Barriere Health Centre welcomes new family doctor

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Mark Akangoziri to Barriere as a family physician. Along with Dr. Abeyinka Alabi, they will be providing primary care services out of the Barriere Health Centre, increasing access to primary care services for residents in the area. Dr. Mark Akangoziri will begin at the clinic on Monday, March 17 and patients will soon be able to make appointments to see him.

Patients who currently do not have a family physician will be attached to Dr. Akangoziri through the provincial Health Connect Registry. People who need a family doctor or nurse practitioner can register on the Health Connect Registry online at hcr.healthlinkbc.ca or by calling 8-1-1. People on the waitlist will soon be contacted to complete the intake process.

Dr. Akangoziri and Dr. Alabi are both internationally trained doctors who came to B.C. and have been able to obtain their licence to practice in Canada through the Practice Ready Assessment program. As part of the program, they commit to a three-year return of service.

The Barriere Health Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please call 250‑672‑9795 to book an appointment with Dr. Alabi or Dr. Akangoziri.
