CMH sneak peek for IH CEO, Williams Lake First Nation

Interior Health (IH) President and CEO Sylvia Weir along with Williams Lake First Nation Chief Willie Sellars and members of his team were given a sneak peek of the CMH Redevelopment Project in Williams Lake March 24, 2026.
Outfitted with hard hats, high-vis vests and steel-toed boots, the group began their tour in the impressive new emergency department of the new tower which, when complete, will offer 23 treatment spaces, an increase of 12; two trauma treatment bays; two specialized procedure rooms; an ambulance carport; and a separate public entrance.
From there, the group previewed the expanded maternity and women's health unit located on the third floor. Offering four, single-occupancy rooms for maternity care, two nursery rooms and two women's health beds in private rooms, the maternity area will allow parents to stay in the same room with their babies until they are ready to go home.
The group also previewed the new in-patient unit. Located on both the third and second floors, the in-patient unit will increase beds from 16 to 28 (with capacity for an additional eight to meet future demands).
Weir said the CMH Redevelopment project is a great opportunity not just for staff retention but also for recruitment and building out services for the future.
