What We've Heard - IHWS Survey

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share your experiences, perspectives, priorities, and hopes through the Indigenous Health and Wellness Strategy Renewal Survey. We are grateful for the care, honesty, and knowledge reflected in the feedback we received. We recognize that some participants shared experiences that may have been difficult to revisit, and we appreciate the trust placed in this process.
Several themes have emerged from survey responses and will help inform priorities for the renewed Indigenous Health and Wellness Strategy. Participants consistently identified the following areas as important:
- Access to health care
- Cultural safety, anti-racism, and respectful care
- Elder Care
- Traditional wellness
- Mental wellness
- Discharge and transitions in care
- Indigenous Patient Navigators
- Organizational accountability
Over the coming weeks, we will continue reviewing feedback from the survey alongside input gathered through engagement with Indigenous partners, communities, patients, families, staff, and other health system partners.
We are committed to sharing what we are learning, how feedback is shaping the renewed strategy, and updates on next steps throughout the renewal process. New information and engagement opportunities will continue to be posted on this site.
Survey Prizes
Five names will be randomly drawn from survey participants who chose to provide their email address for the prize draw. Winners will be contacted individually by August 10, 2026, to arrange prize distribution.
Thank you for your contribution!
