Making way for start of Phase 2 MRI Suite construction

Interior Health is marking an exciting milestone in the MRI suite expansion at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH), as the project moves into its next phase of construction.

On May 13, the mobile MRI unit was relocated next to the Administration Building on the west side of the site.

This relocation marks the start of Phase 2 of the MRI suite expansion project, where a permanent, more accessible MRI suite will be constructed inside the hospital, including a new 1.5T MRI scanner. The new space will improve access to diagnostic imaging and support patients and families in receiving care closer to home.

Patients scheduled for an MRI at KBRH are asked to register at the Administration Building. Wayfinding and staff will be available to assist with directions.

Visitors and patients are encouraged to allow extra time when arriving for appointments. MRI services will continue without interruption during construction of the new MRI suite.
